Medical Doctor

As part of the multidisciplinary team, the Primary Care Physician (PCP) will provide primary medical diagnostic and therapeutic care and service, referring consultations for specialty care, and education and preventive care advice to all patients served.  The physician’s performance will be tracked and comparatively reported using metrics related to the strategic direction and operational needs of the organization.

 Primary Responsibilities:

  • The physician is expected to be able to provide care consistent with their licensure and/or certification
  • Examines, diagnoses and treats patients for acute injuries, infections, and illnesses
  • Counsels and educates patients and families about acute and chronic conditions or concerns 
  • Documents items such as: appropriate chief complaint, past medical, family, and social history, review of systems, examinations, medications, allergies, assessment and plan 
  • Formulates diagnostic and treatment plans 
  • Prescribes and administers medications, therapies, and procedure management for patients according to current standards of care
  • Utilizes managed care processes for cost-effective and efficient use of lab, radiology and extended service providers, including specialists, hospitals, skilled nursing providers, and other ancillary services
  • Orders lab and imaging tests to determine and manage an immediate treatment plan and provides advice on follow up
  • Responsible for the coordination of care with specialists and appropriate ancillary services
  • Completes timely and comprehensive medical documentation in EMR systems (eClinicalWorks) according to company standards
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to operate as part of a team, alongside physicians and other nurses
  • Proficiency in medical instruments and equipment
  • Maintains quality of care standards as defined by the practice
  • Conducts or directs education effective communications to patients, families, and other health care providers
  • Conducts educational activities for organization’s physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and their ancillary staff for the purposes of education and patient care
  • Participates in business and patient care meetings
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned
  • Prescriptive authorization (will be provided if needed)
  • Disease prevention knowledge required

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.)
  • Board certification or eligibility in Family Practice or Internal Medicine
  • 5+ years of physician experience required
  • A strong knowledge base of HIPAA and OSHA required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency
  • Managed Care/IPA/Health Plan experience 
  • Ability to work without direct supervision and practice autonomously
