Telehealth: See Your PCP at Home

These days, it’s important that we all stay at home as much as possible. But what happens if you get sick? Whether you have coronavirus symptoms or are dealing with another issue, it’s important to practice social distancing for the sake of everyone’s health. Luckily, technology means it is perhaps easier to see a doctor virtually than ever before. Below, we will share how telehealth is keeping patients safe and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic.

What is Telehealth?

Telehealth is a way to visit your doctor without ever leaving your house. Instead of seeing your doctor in person, you will simply visit with them using the camera on your computer, tablet, or phone. You will still get the same quality of care you would get with an in-person visit. However, you reduce your contact with other people. Telehealth has been gaining popularity in recent years because it and saves both time and money. However, the COVID-19 spread is making the service even more popular in 2020.

Is a Televisit Right For Me?

Telehealth is a great option for patients who need to follow up with their established doctors. These appointments can be used to manage medications, review lab results, or to check on ongoing symptoms. Doctors can also write prescriptions and make referrals during a televisit. If you aren’t feeling well, your doctor can also provide acute care during these visits. This means a doctor can treat your sore throat, cold, or allergy symptoms without you visiting their office.
